December 4th, 2006Thanks.
Thanks.
As we all know malicious users (trolls) get a kick out of spamming a forum. Even if their message is only up for a few minutes tops, thanks to our wonderful moderator team, the trolls still feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. The constant spamming is nothing but a nuisance to every member on the board which leaves me with a repugnant hatred towards trolls. We at The Overclocked put our members first and do everything in our power to achieve utmost approval and satisfaction from our members. With that being said I have been at work developing a new system to defeat nearly all troll intended registrations.
With recent surge in malicious posts I decided to finish my new system and get it in place AS SOON AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE.
That goal has been met. From this point forward trolling members only registering to spam will be stopped. The trolls will not succeed in their journey as we will shoot them down before they can comprehend what happened. As a result you shall never have to put up with spamming posts from trolls on The Overclocked again.
I want to make a quick reminder that a if contributing member goes AWOL and starts posting spam the only way we can deal with them is if the post has been reported. So if you see a possible spam post by any member please click the Report Post button and report it as soon as possible. Thanks.

Last night the upgrade took place at around 3AM EST. All service was restored within the hour. Everything is in place now, more details of the improvements to come!
Thank you for your patience.
Our hosting company has notified me of scheduled network maintenance on October 27th and 28th between the hours of 1:00am and 3:00am EST. Users can expect between 20-30 minutes of downtime during this maintenance window. We are uncertain as of now whether this outage will occur on the 27th or the 28th as it depends how far they get in the configuration on the 27th.
I will update this announcement if I hear anything more.
The outcome of this maintenance will be very good. They added another server and will be load balancing the cluster. This means that instead of having one server for our web server, we will now be seven server redundant. Increased reliability is only one of the many advantages.
Thank you for your understanding and please do not hesitate in contacting us with any additional questions you may have.
The forums have been upgraded to 3.6.2 today. If you find any bigs, please post here. If it is a major bug affecting usability, please use the Contact Us form.
Thank you,
The Overclocked Staff
Some forums have been combined, moved, or omitted. None of the posts were lost in the process. We did this to organize the forums and keep it more compact.
You may have received a ton of private messages saying that your threads have been moved. I apologize for the large amount of PMs.
Last night I made some changes to the postbit layout and styling templates. These templates control the left column in a thread that shows the username and avatar of the post, and the signature area as well.
We are proud to announce the arrival of email and chat services.
The Overclocked Members can now apply for an email address from The Overclocked. Yeah, that’s right, another email that you will never check.
Guess again! We at The Overclocked work on a different playing field then that of similar companies. Our email services are provided on behalf of Google. Your account will be in the Google Mail client interface and will come with 2 GB of storage as well! Amazing huh? Well there’s more.
We are also providing chat services on behalf of Google. You can now use your Google Talk client to chat with other members!
Pretty wild and crazy stuff ey? No doubt!
Get your account today! Just post a reply in this thread and I’ll get your account up and going! You will then receive your login details via PM.
*The Chat services in this offer are not to be taken as a chat room.
Update!
You can add all of your email accounts to this account! That way you only have one inbox to check all of your email addresses! Account Aliases can also be created upon request! See post five for details on these features.
I made a minor change to the reply boxes, they are now 100px wider.
Let me know what you all think.
